Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I have to pay a monthly subscription to use ShowAssist?

No, ShowAssist® does not require a subscription.

How are payments processed?

Payments are processed using Stripe payment processing platform. Owners/Riders can pay their Grooms/Assists in cash at the end of each job (our cash pay option) or automatically via a debit/credit card (our autopay* option) using Stripe. *AutoPay payments are automatically processed at the start of the service period and released within 24 to 48 hours of the end of the service period.

How far in advance can I post jobs?

You can post jobs weeks or months in advance or from show-week to show- week!  You are only charged when you hire someone.  If you don't hire anyone you are not charged, so you do not have to manually delete jobs from the app, they will cancel automatically and move to your "cancelled jobs" tab.

And if you don't see a rated hunter/jumper show that you are looking for, please contact us at info@showassist.org and we will add it to the app.

I am an Owner/Rider, how do I post a job (AssistOp)?

As an Owner/Rider, you can post a job by:

  1. searching for a show from the show list,
  2. selecting the days of the week you need services,
  3. selecting services and preferred experiences desired (e.g., FEI experience), whether you are providing housing and/or transportation,
  4. entering the total payout amount for the entire service period along with your preferred payment method (autopay or cash pay), *please do not enter a daily or hourly rate, and
  5. publishing your open job!

You will then receive a text/email notification once Applicant(s) apply, and you can review and select one Groom/Assist to hire for the job.

I am a Groom/Assist, how do I apply for a job (AssistOp)?

As a Groom/Assist, you can apply for a job by:

  1. first searching for and selecting a show from the show list,
  2. searching and selecting a job published for that show,
  3. completing  your profile and pay method for receiving pay (for autopay jobs if preferred), and
  4. apply!

The Owner/Rider will review all Applicant profiles and select one Groom/Assist to hire for the job. You will be notified by text/email immediately when selected for the job.

What happens if I'm contacted by an app user outside of the app?

ShowAssist® is not a Job Board.  It is against our policies and intended purpose of the app for users to spam other users by attempting to locate them and contact them directly.  This is grounds from temporary or permanent suspension from ShowAssist. We value your privacy and we take it very seriously. Please report any such conduct to us  at admin@showassist.org.

Can I cancel a job (AssistOp) if my plans change?

Yes, if the job was awarded, the Owner/Rider or Groom/Assist can cancel a job up to 24 hours prior to the start of the service period.

Is my contact information kept confidential?

Yes, contact information (i.e., phone number) is only shared between the Owner/Rider and the Groom/Assist upon hiring for a job, so that you can share additional details such as barn or ring location, services details (e.g., feeding schedule) etc.

Can I re-hire a Groom/Assist if I liked their work?

Yes, as the Owner/Rider you can send a re-hire offer to a Groom/Assist if you want them to  continue working for you, even if you are going to different show.

What are the fees assessed for using ShowAssist?

ShowAssist® assesses the Owner/Rider a $10.00 convenience fee* per job. An additional 5% service fee* is assessed for autopay transactions only based on the payout amount to be paid to the Groom/Assist, for each job completed.

*These fees are only assessed to the Owner/Rider when a Groom/Assist is hired for a job.

Are there other payout methods available besides entering my bank account info?

Yes, you can receive your payout automatically either by Bank Account or Debit Card (autopay) or in cash at the end of the job (cash pay - no bank account info required).

I had an Applicant but then they disappeared off my open job post. What happened?

Applicants can apply to multiple jobs that are available for the same time frame, so if they are hired by one Owner, they will automatically fall off of the open jobs for other Owners because they are no longer available for your consideration during that time frame. We encourage Owners to review Applicant(s) and select one as soon as you receive the Applicant notifications.

I edited and re-published a job and my Applicant(s) disappeared. What happened?

If you edit and re-publish an open job that already has Applicants, the job will go back to a zero(0) Applicant count, and the Applicants receive a re-publish notification and have the option to view the updated job posting and re-apply, if they desire.

I tried to hire someone but my credit card declined, what should I do?

Whenever you hire someone through the app, if the card set as "default" is declined it automatically cancels the job and sends a notification to the Groom that the job is cancelled. So, if the Groom is being considered for other jobs, they can be hired by another Owner. Contact us immediately by emailing us at info@showassist.org if you still wish to hire them and we will see if they are still available and interested in the job, and update your default card settings to a new card before posting any new jobs, to avoid future card issues.

I need additional services performed that I forgot to include in the job post.

We encourage Owners to edit and re-publish their job posts if you realize you need additional services, before hiring someone for the job.  This gives the Applicants and opportunity to review the updated post and decide whether they are still interested in the job and avoids last-minute cancellation of the job by a Groom after being hired because they were not aware of changes made to the job when applying. However, we understand that sometimes the need for additional services may arise after a Groom has been hired, if so, it is up to the Groom as to whether they wish to complete the additional services and whether they wish to ask for additional pay.

The Owner ask me to do additional services not posted on the job I was hired for.

We encourage Owners to edit and re-publish their job posts if they realize they need additional services, before hiring someone for the job. However, sometimes the need for additional services may arise after a Groom/Assist has been hired. It is up to you as the Groom/Assist whether you wish to complete the additional services and whether you wish to ask for additional pay for completion of additional services. If you have questions or wish to discuss with ShowAssist, please contact us at info@showassist.org.
